Engineering data, in plain text.
Produce from €55.22/kg on the LEO-030L-D.
Indicative cost to produce one kilo of finished freeze-dried product. Adjust the inputs to your operation — every number recomputes live.
In-shelf freezing — no external blast freezer, and a shorter cycle than in-chamber machines.
Excludes labour — cycles run largely unattended; hands-on handling is typically a few minutes per batch with trolleys/mechanisation. Add your own loaded rate if it’s material to your setup.
Yield and cycle-time figures are conservative engineering estimates based on typical product composition and verified machine specifications. Actual results depend on the specific material, recipe, preparation, load and ambient conditions, and may differ. These figures are for planning purposes only; Freeze-drying.tech accepts no responsibility for decisions made on their basis. Freeze-drying.tech can run a validation cycle of your product on the target machine to provide confirmed, measured yield and cycle-time figures.

The LEO-030L-D freeze-dries up to 45 kg of fresh product per batch across 13 shelves / 26 GN 1/1 trays (5.15 m² shelf area, 70 kg ice-condenser capacity). Running back-to-back 24–40 h cycles, that scales to hundreds of kilos of fresh input per week — the step from 'side line' to a real freeze-dried production line.
Yes. It runs fully automatic cycles with automatic defrost, and Wi-Fi remote monitoring lets you oversee the run and machine status from an app. For a producer that means one operator can load, start and walk away, checking progress remotely — important for long overnight cycles.
It needs a three-phase 380 V / 50 Hz supply (≈7.5 kW connected; a 220 V option exists). It's air-cooled, so no chiller is required, but it is a heavy floor-standing machine — plan the floor space, access route and ventilation. We confirm the full installation checklist with the quote.
A 24-month warranty, extendable to 36 months, with remote diagnostics over Wi-Fi to speed up support. As an FDT-supplied machine you also get spare-parts access and process help — not just a box on a pallet.
For best structure and shortest cycles, yes — load product already frozen hard (ideally −30 to −40 °C). A blast freezer sized to your batch (we stock Foster units) pre-freezes fast, locks in quality and frees the dryer to do what it does best: sublimate, not freeze. The machine can freeze on-shelf, but pre-freezing lifts throughput.
It ships oil-sealed as standard with an oil-free option. At commercial duty, many producers take the oil-free route to cut routine oil changes and eliminate any oil-mist housekeeping in a food space — weigh the higher up-front cost against lower running maintenance over a multi-shift schedule.
